Access NewspaperARCHIVE

The Internet offers students many primary resources. A new FREE resource is now available for Public Libraries and K-12 schools. Access NewspaperARCHIVE requires that the school district sets up an account and it is free for use. Here is a quote taken from their website:

“Access NewspaperARCHIVE is a new program that gives public libraries and K-12 schools around the world FREE access to NewspaperARCHIVE.com’s historical newspaper database. Students and library patrons can search tens of millions of newspaper pages in our archive for free through your institution. This free version of Access NewspaperARCHIVE will allow users to view, save and print full-page newspapers dating from 1759 to 1977.”

  • Convenient online access to full-page historical newspapers from across the US, along with papers in the United Kingdom, Canada, Jamaica and other countries
  • Tens of millions of newspaper pages are available in the online database
  • Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, researchers can easily search newspaper pages by a key phrase, date or location.
