Scholastic.com provides students useful tools. One such tool is the Story Starters generator. Students begin by typing their name and selecting their grade level (1-4). Next, click the handle and watch the four wheels spin. When it stops, it will provide students with an idea for a story. If, for some reason, a student does not like a particular wheel, the may spin it again. Next, students pick the format for their story: notebook, letter, newspaper or postcard. Students may add a drawing to their story as well. When finished with their writing, they may print it. If students decide they would like the story in a different format, they can change it, too.
